Double standards….
Do you like eating fish?
For thousands of years now, man has been fishing! Assuming that over 80% of the world population eats fish, that is roughly 4.5 billion people that eat fish…. Is is safe to assume that at least 5 billion fish are caught each day….
We kill over 5 billion fish everyday! And not a tear is shed for those lives!
Yet, if there were one person in some remote part of the world that is bitten by a shark, the entire news world casts it as one of their top stories! Everyone sympathizes with that one person if he survives or with his family if he dies!
One might argue any way his pleases for his convenience and justify this daily holocaust that we commit…. But he cannot give back the life of that fish, no different from how he cannot get back the life of that man!
A life is a life… The difference is in our perception! We consider one our own, for we relate to that life form directly…. The other is a different life form, that we can easily disassociate ourselves from! We can watch them die… we enjoy their taste, we enjoy fishing (the act of killing)!
Two totally different reactions to the same loss!
Are we not applying double standards?
Where else can you find such instances? Think!!!
