Work a little… save a lot!
As I say “work a little… save a lot”, I mean it both figuratively and literally…
Today, I wrote my article like I do everyday. It was one of those occasions when I was able to get it all done in one pass… I was about to copy it and paste it into my blog and I did something stupid causing me to lose all of my work… Details apart, it was stupid enough to where I had no way to recover it!
Reason: I did not save it as I was writing it!
Alway… Save the work that you have done from time to time…. Several lessons to be learnt/ recapped:
- One of my professors that I highly regard would always tell us as it relates to software programing… “Code a little, test a lot!”… Lesson: I did not care to apply the principle that he taught us so many times… Shame on me!
- There is no point crying over spilt milk… You screw up… You better suck up to the reality and move on! Lesson: Learn your lessons and don’t give up… Keep ploughing at it!
- Use tools that are available to avoid costly mistakes… The world today offers many tools to do things efficiently… to reduce human error… Lesson: Use tools and technology! They are available to you after all! And if they are not, identify and acquire them. They save to a lot of headache and help keep you productive!
- Brute force may seem effective for a while… but in the long run, you will run out of gas! Lesson: Be smart!
All these are obvious things that everyone knows…. Today, I stick my hand up to say, I screwed up! And I pledge to myself not to learn this a second time….
And I share all of this with you to say….
- Never ignore your fundamentals… You will do great sticking to the basics.
- Let not set-backs hold you back!
- Don’t be bullish… Be Smart! Get more from your life each day.
- Maximize the benefit of what you do once. Work a little… Save a lot!
