Do you think you can map?
When a general advise is stated, an issue mentioned in a generic manner without naming anyone or a good code prescribed, again without indicating who is to adopt it…. Everyone agrees with such a global principle…. Everyone nods…. Everyone knows that it is the right thing…
But try targeting the remark to a specific person! Good luck!!!
Every person knows what is right and what is wrong…. Well! Almost every person!!! Yet we do stupid things!
The problem is not with worldly knowledge…. The problem is with self knowledge!!!
The reason: We are not very good at mapping….
We are in general incapable of looking inward when we hear something to ask ourselves whether it applies to us or not and if so, where it applies and how to bring it into our specific experience….
A wise man is one who is capable of such mapping…. One who is open to what is being said…. Gains the knowledge…. Maps it into his character…. Knows where he is wrong…. And has the maturity and the strength to correct it…. Has the tenacity to let it settle in his system…. And is able to bring it into his experience…. And then makes it his way of life….
Such a map is what makes a compelling journey of this life!
But it all starts with you being able to map what is being said… to your own being!!!
Do you think you can (learn to) map???
