400 years back, anyone that thought that the earth was not flat was punishable. Burning him alive was the right form of social justice. Today, the theory that earth is flat is viewed at best, as a stupid idea.
A woman not wearing a veil is not allowed on the streets of a few countries today, where the same woman is free to live the way she wants in other geographies.
Polygamy is illegal in most countries. It is totally acceptable in others.
Live by a universal code of justice that drives you to realizing the purpose of your life.
Why lose yourself to social correctness and acceptance, which is but a fickle state of finite human existence, encapsulated in an infinitesimally small snapshot of space and time!
