To identify is the first step…
Improvement starts with identifying that there is an improvement due… Change comes from the identification that change is necessary….
As long as there is a justification to continue doing what you have been doing or to continue behaving the way you have always behaved, you have not categorized that aspect as a problem, as much as you might have recognized that behavior or act.
Bringing in this improvement or change, most times, defines the ones that excel, from the ones that remain mediocre.
How do you develop this in yourself?
There are, of course, books, self-assessment tools, training programs, counseling sessions, etc…. But ultimate learning leading into self-growth comes from reflection… from paying attention to experiences… your own, as well as those that others have shared with you!
As you take this reflection seriously, you start to coach yourself in ways that no outside help can ever benefit you…. Blockages crumble and emotional strengths develop. Sometimes the ‘aha’ moments come from watching others’ behaviors… this might even be gathered from movies or books… but your constant pursuit to reflect, helps channel your observational capabilities into making you realize, that you too have a blockage, that you need to correct.
Any which way, as you gain experience in self-assessment, your insights get translated into improvements that expand your personal capabilities.
Such learning is not an intellectual exercise alone! It requires reflection and modifying personal behavior…. It requires tenacity, persistence, daily engagement and above all, the deep commitment to improvement… to change!
Once you get onto this track, your capacity for growth almost becomes infinite….
And this transcends mere behavioral or material growth…. It goes into the cultural edifice of your very being…. and onto that ultimate path… for spiritual development!
