The Transitional Approach Vs The Transformational Approach….
What is your preferred approach to solving a problem…. in life and at your work place?
Are you the kind that likes to keep existing systems, people and processes in place for the most part and nudge them into an improved state over time?
Or, are you the kind that likes to wipe the slate clean, keeping only the essential constructs in place, to rebuild a new world?
Realizing this must be a very contextual question, think of which approach you would rather take and which approach you normally end up taking….
The first approach calls for a high degree of tact, patience and sustainability….
The second approach calls for extensive planning and tremendous courage and the nerve to own up to a potential failure resulting from a radical change!
While both approaches have their place and the choice of the approach has to be subjective, when it comes to action, the majority of the people resort to a transitional approach… for, “The perceived risk of maintaining statuesque is higher than the perceived risk of change”!
I do not mean to advocate anything here…. But, often times you will realize that nudging and transitioning could be a horribly slow process and the change may barely even be noticeable!
It might feel like you are spinning your wheels in the sand… “Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result”!
It is good to fail early… better to succeed early! Leap frogging to a better state of being or to greater certainty could well earn you the dividends, your ability to take the risk deserves!
If you are happy with where you are and what you are doing, transition incrementally!
If you must make that quantum improvement, bear the strength to take the transformational route!
In life, “the only thing that is constant is change”…. If change is due, it will be impacted…. Leave it up to the Universe, and it will do it at the pace it decides to, at that point it time…. Take charge instead, if you would rather drive… whether at work or in life!
