The next milestone…
I have always viewed life in phases, each leading to the next. You get through each phase somewhat successfully, and you will more than likely achieve your life’s goal!
To have a goal for your life is important.
There will always exist that one dimension of life phases which are common to all: birth, childhood, youth, etc.
And then there is that other dimension to life. It is unique to you, has phases that you define! It’s your plan… your goals….
You set the tone, you set the pace, you determine the outcome!
If you have figured out where you want to go to get to the next stage in life, you probably know what your next milestone in that direction should be. You probably know how long it might take you to get there.
Focus completely on that next milestone! It’s only with successful maneuvering from milestone to milestone that you can expect to successfully complete that phase… and that’s when you can hope to move from phase to phase, to ultimately achieve your life’s purpose! And from that view point, your next milestone becomes extremely crucial.
Let the underlying spirit behind all your tasks, your thoughts and your actions be that next milestone!
You might have to make some adjustments along the way to best suit your ultimate goal… you might feel a little anxious at times… things might take longer than you would like for them to… there may be new variables that you have to account for… people that you were counting on may not always stand up to their word… you may not have all the resources that you would like to have.
It might seem discouraging for a moment, but once you achieve that milestone, all the struggle that went into bringing it about, will be immediately forgotten… only the joy and pride of accomplishment and the determination to conquer that next milestone will remain!
Break those grand ideas into very tangible short term milestones. Creating a small task list for a tangible milestone is far easier to plan and work, than to try and think of everything about everything!
Focus on that next milestone, accomplish it, rejoice…. and repeat! In a hundred years from now, your life would have counted!
