Self deceit or thoughtlessness?
Consider these common scenarios:
- Non-vegetarians abstaining from non-vegetarian food on a certain day of the week, on festivals or the like
- People that smoke or consume alcohol not taking alcohol before going to a holy place
- A person that has no problem using foul language while zipping up in the company of his parents
I see these attempts of abstinence is specific scenarios as indicators that each of these individuals somewhere considers these habits unacceptable. They feel that these habits are beneath themselves and therefore selectively avoid them.
How can anything that is beneath a certain otherwise higher standard ever be acceptable? And if it is not, why do it ever???
Is this self-deceit, or thoughtlessness, or something else?
You decide! Any which way you see it, be consistent… live above board… Always!!!
