Doing it right the first time…
It is amazing how so many of us know how to do it right but never find the time to do it right the first time… yet, we always seem to find time to do the same thing over and over, yet never right!
It is not about intention, it is about translation!
The real issue is not one of ability… but of discipline… of planning and more importantly, of the sheer need to get it done in a manner that fully represents your core desire for perfection.
You always want to do a good job… one where you feel satisfied!
You are almost always excited about the possibilities and of the vision… yet the final product that is produced always comes out a notch lower than your vision. And when you finally do set your eye on perfection, you run the risk of making it an academic project that commercially makes little sense.
Again, this is not about how capable or otherwise you are…
What is it then?
Doing it right the first time is really about being proficient at what you are doing. And when what you are doing involves a team, it is about permeating this need for proficiency through and through your entire team…. It is then about excellent planning and organization and staffing and orchestration…. It is about leadership! It is about Execution with the end in view… at the desired level of quality… and at the cost you know you must stay within!
Translate your desire into action! Let the desire burn bright enough to where it shines through your work… and when you lead… let that flame kindle through those that work together with you…
You will then do it right the first time… you will do it right every time!
