Pick only the battles that you must win….
Don’t fight the rest!
It is better to be branded passive and non-confrontational, than to become self-indulged and to give yourself in to the temptation of feeling good temporarily by “speaking your mind out”….
Picking up a battle at every minor provocation is a form of slavery, for you don’t hold the keys to your own emotional stability!
The resultant satisfaction from speaking up in that tempting moment is such a short, transient feeling, that is hardly worth it! It is a lot more satisfying in the long run, to know that you had the courage to hold on to your own in a situation where the easier choice was just to spurt out what you were aching to say.
Develop the inner strength and calm to remain silent…. to simply shut up!
Give yourself time to think through the situation. And if you conclude that you must react, you have had an opportunity to think things through…. You can then react powerfully, in a manner that best suits you and at a time that you decide…. And that is when you will definitely win!
Choose your battles wisely…. And when you choose to fight, have the smarts to also choose the battle ground, the time of the battle and the rules of your battle….
Fight to win! Why battle in vain?
