The unrest that results from unmet expectations from a trusted entity far exceeds the loss that results from the treacherous back-stabbing by an untrusted source.
Trust is hard to gain and difficult to keep.
Trust is built over time when you come through repeatedly… you work selflessly for the general good of the whole, you do what it takes to stand by your word, you deliver on expectations consistently… your very presence brings comfort.
Trust is built when honor, self-esteem, care and compassion rank higher than the comfort of being lazy… of being self-indulged.
The alternative is to keep expectations low, teach those around you to accept less and to live a mediocre life.
