Blessed is the man that is built to be able to say “No” in a palatable manner…
If you are one of those that succumbs to pressures and finds it hard to stand his ground, you know that you are constantly making it difficult up on yourself.
You do not want to do it… yet, you end up signing up or committing to things that leave you feeling compromised…
Here’s how you grow away from this troubling weakness… or should we say ‘goodness’ of yours….
Learn the magic phrase “let me come back to you in a few”…. Do this even if the request is for that very moment….
You do not have to say “No” every time… but at a minimum, you deserve a chance to be in control of whether you are going to say ‘yes’ or you are going to say ‘no’… after all, it is you that is about to help or commit himself to a task for someone else!
Do not blanket give into obligations and personal pressures… instead, take control of whether or not you are going to do something, as well as, to what extent you are going to do it….
And those “few moments” you have asked for, will give you that time to be able to evaluate precisely that!
And do make it a point to “get back in a few”… What you end up doing or saying could actually be valued a lot more!!!
