Micro Monitoring….
Micro Monitoring… Very different from Micro Management, is critical to success….
Most failures are not because of lack of skill nor commitment nor knowledge nor the desire for success; in fact, most professionals want the project that they are working on to succeed… they are ever willing to go the extra mile to make it work…
Yet projects fail!!!
If a leader is honest with himself… he will tell you that it is his fault…
Projects fail not because the leader failed to understand the project… not because he had a poor team… not because he could not motivate the team… not because he could not explain the goals of the project to the team and certainly not because he did not give in his 100%….
You could have the right strategy, the right plan and the right execution methodology…. A project could still fail if you do not follow-up back on each milestone… each deliverable… towards the goal!
Do not then commit the mistake of micro management, for that will only drain you off and demotivate your team…. Instead, have a strong micro monitoring mechanism….
When each task is formulated to get one step closer to the goal… when each milestone is in line with the final goal and when each deliverable adds up to the realization of the project… And you have a way to measure and verify that this is in fact happening… that is when you will see your project succeeding.
If you cannot monitor each item in the project for it to be inline with your ultimate goal, you could spend the entire project celebrating milestone accomplishments…. but whether or not they add up to the ultimate delivery will remain a gamble…. A chance that you might hopefully succeed!
Micro-monitor with the end goal in mind… If what is being worked on does not add up to the ultimate delivery…. why are you wasting your time???
