“I made a mistake”…
When you take the position of “I cannot be wrong”, you are making it too hard for yourself! When you refuse to accept that you might have made a mistake, you end up having to live up to a standard that is too expensive to live up to…. you will find yourself defending yourself (whether it stems off a thought, action or word), picking up fights and creating adversaries…
Let’s face it… no one can be right every time. When you learn to look at things from an outcome point of view, you realize that you are but one of the implements in accomplishing something bigger than yourself… in that context, right or wrong do not really matter… what matters is whether each action… each thought… each word… leads in to the ultimate outcome…
A simple ” I made a mistake” relieves a lot of burden… you come across as being more human (which you are), and people around you will respond to you more favorably…. It becomes easier to get things done… to harness support for your goals… to lead!!!
Learn to identify your mistakes… learn to accept them… and then learn to say “I made a mistake”…. You will actually come our stronger…
