Decision making
You can never make right decisions. You can only take decisions and make them right.
Here’s a simple framework that might help guide your decision making process.
Firstly, determine if what you are trying to decide on is one thing or many things rolled into one. Uncomplicated: Break the item in question into finite simple elements that can then be decided on individually.
If your decisions do not have long term implications and can be reversed, make them quickly. Use your best judgement. Succeed quickly or fail quickly.
If the consequences of your decisions however, have long term implications and are difficult to change, be methodical in thinking things through, gather consensus and establish a clear process for ensuring that the expected outcome is accomplished. More importantly, evaluate the potential consequences if they cannot be rolled back and ensure that you have your bases covered for dealing with the worst that can happen.
It is better to decide on not doing anything than to delay. Remember, the worst decision is the one that is made too late.
