The Appreciation-Criticism Anomaly!
If you feel good at being appreciated for doing a good job and feel bad for being criticized for not doing a good job, you are suffering from grave self-esteem and self-evaluation issues!!!
Does it sound like I got this mixed up??? Let me help you think it through…
You are appreciated when you work at your peak capacity or achieve something that others thought was difficult for you. This in essence means that they set the limits of what you can do! Is that all you could have done??? At least that’s what the guy appreciating you is thinking!
On the contrary, when you are criticized…. be glad that the one telling you that you are not doing a good job has a much higher expectation of you…. that person feels that your abilities far exceed what you demonstrated… he thinks you are better than that!!!
Be bothered when you are appreciated…. And realize that your true capability is being recognized when you are being criticized…
Now, before I am blamed for being negative minded… I do want to clarify:
There is nothing wrong in being happy at being appreciated. That’s good!
But be happier more, when you are criticized… know that you are being told that you came across as being better than you just displayed!
That will prompt you to actually become better!!!
Makes sense!
