Anxiety ridden Vs being Anchored in progress…
There are very many that busy themselves in appearing to be good… That’s not to say that they do not have the energy, the talent or the personality… It’s just that their main focus becomes being recognized…. as being good… as being the best… as being the sole contributors….
The problem with this invariably is that such an attitude can potentially cause more anxiety to themselves and tell upon the productivity of the whole, for, it’s got to be about them! It’s alright if the entire organization should come to a screeching halt… what’s most important is that their presence not be overlooked!!!
And then there are those that are good and care not to appear so… for to them, it’s about the whole… it’s truly about progress!!! They are secure enough in themselves and entrenched enough in their values to care for true progress, for they know that the organization is always bigger than the self!
I have seen in organizations big and small… stunted growth is often not a result of a poor organizational resume, rather, a result of this struggle for recognition… No wonder many feel anxious and fearful, and live to impress. Their lives are spent worrying and fending off those that are a threat to them, regardless how much they benefit the mother ship that sustains them all…
Most call this organizational politics… I call it the battle between the ones that are anxiety ridden and the ones that are anchored in progress….
Which side do you see yourself???
