Your life matters
I write this with a heavy heart. I just learnt that one of my ex-team mates passed away recently. He was a strong technologist who has been in senior technology management for well over a decade. He is in his mid-forties and leaves behind his wife and two young daughters who have not yet reached their teens. His untimely death is owed to some respiratory system related cardiac failure. He was a chain smoker.
We live in a stressful world and it is easy for most professionals to resort to addictive stress-relievers. Smoking, alcoholism, TV, Video games, texting, Facebook and other technology related additions, over-eating, lack of exercise, etc figure in the list.
All these addictions are a big departure from what is considered healthy. This is common knowledge, yet, some of the smartest professionals on the planet resort to them.
My friend has not given his little girls any option but to grieve and struggle their way through their lives with their daddy gone!
Your life counts! Please overcome your addictions. It boils down to self-discipline! Do not commit the mistake of losing control of what is within, for the pressures on the outside. That is the most unintelligent thing to do.
Look at your family and make a change today! You matter to them more than you realize. Get disciplined!
