The stage between learning and unlearning
Knowing is easy! You can know a lot. But that does not necessarily make you learned.
Learning what gives you joy is usually hard. But it makes sense to learn it, for once you learn it, you will never have to unlearn it.
But most people confuse pleasure for joy. And what gives pleasure is not always hard to learn. And hence the temptation to learn it: The perceived reward of learning quickly!!!
Unlearning anything however, can be very hard; not withstanding the difficulty or otherwise of learning it.
It’s wise to unlearn the learnings leading to pleasure, for joy and pleasure are invariably at odds. Unlearning what leads to pleasure, opens doors to the learnings that lead to joy. By the same token, the learnings of joy prompt the unlearning of pleasure.
It’s therefore best to not learn what must be unlearned. It is during the stage when you have learnt what should not have been learnt and must therefore be unlearnt, that life can become difficult. And you do not want to be in that stage!
Learn therefore, only what gives you joy. That’s the only stage always want to be in.
