Slow down to speed up….
A few weeks back, I had written about being busy Vs being productive!
Taking that thought further… let’s consider the analogy of a vehicle stuck in sand….
Floor the accelerator all you want to, depending on how bad you have it stuck, you could be perpetually spinning your wheels in that same place without moving forward an inch… in fact, in many cases, your vehicle could actually end up sinking a little bit more given all the mud or dirt you would have churned out of that spot!
You have worked harder… your tires are getting worn out… your RPM has hit its max limit… your engine is over-heating… you and your co-passengers are panicking… you are running out of fuel… And you have not moved a bit!!!
And probably when you finally decide to get off that car and somehow manage to get it out of that ditch… you end up with your car becoming less efficient given that you wore it out!!!
Life’s the same, only it is not as pronounced in most cases! You could be extremely busy… you may find yourself exhausted each evening and when you wake up day after day… and push yourself week after week….
If you are experiencing fatigue, you are probably not being productive!!!
Few people experience fatigue when they are productive…. Mental fatigue is almost never gotten rid off with rest… it can only be gotten rid off by becoming productive again… by tangibly seeing the fruit of your toil….
Recognize when you are spinning your wheels in the sand…. If you are experiencing fatigue, and you are trying frantically to get past that state… you are only digging yourself more and more into that ditch and are wearing yourself out!
It is because you are not stopping long enough to think and evaluate what you are doing with your own life. Be smart!
There is always an easier way…. Once out of the ditch, you sure are going to enjoy that ride, for each next minute, you have covered more ground….
And the way out of that devilish spinning of your wheels is to stop… getting off that car… thinking through how to get your car off that ditch… and then getting it off there!
Remember! Sometimes the fastest way to gain speed is to slow down now….
