Micro Management Vs Micro Monitoring
Where Micro Management could be counter productive… Micro Monitoring is critical for productivity
One of the most important aspects of leadership is to setup an environment for success…. for each individual… and for the whole!!!
In this backdrop, it becomes extremely important for a leader to understand four things and do them extremely well….
1. Define the outcome expected for the whole and for each individual very clearly
2. Give each individual the freedom to do their job and succeed… in his area and from his area
3. Constantly follow up and measure each individual towards the outcome defined
4. Help and support each individual where and when needed
The key here is constant monitoring… totally different from constant management! Focus on the keywords ‘measuring against the outcome’….
Micro monitoring ensures that the right things are being worked on and that things are being done right… This should not be confused with going through each task item; rather, Micro Monitoring entails keeping a very close watch on the measurable output from the effort being put into each aspect of the system, with each aspect adding up to the ultimate goal….
Ensure that your strategic design incorporates micro-monitoring with the right accountability metrics and visibility tools. See your effort actually yielding the results that you hope to achieve…. 👍
