Familiarity breeds contempt…
Well! Not always…. Not unless you are dealing with immature people! And when I say this, I presume that you live a life that is worth something…
But in fairness to you, the world has no dearth for immature people!
While you may make it convenient for yourself with “I don’t care what people think of me”; the time and energy that this “contempt” could cost you can be avoided…
Two things to that end:
1. Make every relationship fair and equitable… Ensure that it is a “give and take” type relationship… Not “I give – you take” nor “you give – I take”…
2. Do not undervalue yourself… Not your time, not your contribution, not your kindness and generosity, not your knowledge, not your sacrifice…. For if you undervalue yourself, are you not hoping for a little too much from others???
Share the life of those about you… But keep expectations very clear!
Be the horizon…. That everyone seeks, but can never reach!!!
