Bias is a regressive trait!
Bias indicates that you let your emotion take over your logic….
Skepticism or trust need to be applied across the board…. If you are selective, you are either extremely informed or you are biased.
How can we differentiate? It’s not that hard!
When you are a knowledgeable and very practical a person, that is not trusting by nature, it is understandable that you are selective about who and when you trust or accept! While being non-trusting as your default itself is a regressive trait (which can be discussed as a separate subject), that you will trust if certain qualities are demonstrated… that you are clear about what it takes to win you over… that you can layout exactly what someone has to do for you to accept him… can potentially indicate that you are practical and open… and that is good!
Being very informed and consequently selective about how you conduct yourself with people or in situations is a highly desirable quality.
Bias, on the other hand, indicates that you are a regressed individual… you have shut yourself off from any potential growth or gathering of additional information in that arena. In fact, you have a deliberate inner filter that only let’s tainted information pass through your system about that aspect! And should you come across any new information that does not match your current opinions, your inner filter might spray that ugly hue on it for it to resolve with the other information (or should we say, the emotion) you already bear!
This is negativity… and if this is what you are keeping in your being, you are being a negative person… you are choosing to live regressed!
Is that who you are?
Keep bias under check. The next negative thought you have about something or someone… show yourself that you can be a better person!
Train yourself to absorb information openly and completely…. learn to hold what you are hearing and seeing in isolation before bringing in your previous emotions and opinions about that person or entity… be practical and logical about evaluating this new information against your existing information… dig into the details… ask questions… convince yourself one way or the other with information as against emotion….
You will be happier and prouder… for you are being the adult that you are!
Very Correct . The article shows a lot of experience in dealing with people. Bias is most likely to adversely affect the decision making and the work, it leads to a highly negative atmosphere in the office. The age old norm that justice must not only be done but seen to be done is a time less norm to be meticulously followed by the manager or the team lead . Well written.
