The only choice you really have
I met a gentleman in a flight recently. He is a part of an organization of freelance photographers who take pictures of still born children together with their parents. For a moment it felt a little too much for me to fathom…. the enormity of the grief that the parents suffer…. how could anyone possibly think of a picture to be made with ones still born infant?
He explained how that would be “the only memory” that those parents would ever have of their child! One can either focus on the sadness of the incident or celebrate the birth of their child that gave them the privilege of being his parent at least for a few moments!
And he showed me a few pictures… they are beautifully done… the child looks beautiful. Each picture captures the beauty of the love the parents bear for their child!
The only choice that those parents have is to live with the harsh truth… And they can celebrate the birth of their child or for ever live depressed about natural selection!
I think about surgeons…. There would not be one surgeon that wants to see his patient not win the battle. The harsh reality is that not everyone makes it. What the surgeon goes through, we can only imagine! But he would do himself nor his future patients any good by choosing to live in that defeat. He must focus on the next victory for that is the only balm that can heal him….
When a farmer works through the entire year caring for his crops, waiting for harvest and loses it all to a single storm… the world around him might seem to come to an end!
But… to those who realize that the only choice they have is to go at it one time more, they don’t just make it, they thrive!
The choices most of us have to make in comparison to such realities that others around us face pale into insignificance… don’t they?
The only choice you really have is to be successful… to excel… to live in joy absolute!!!
Why delay? Why not live happily anyway?? Why not now???
